The Water Works project aims to address soil desiccation and erosion of biodiversity in the Fens of East England.
Water Works is a joint-venture between the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire ACRE, the Centre for Hydrology and Ecology, and the University of East London.
In the low-lying Fens in East England, the Water Works project will fight the problems of soil desiccation and the erosion of biodiversity into dustbowls, by creating a new and alternative system of Wetland Farming.
This would be a fundamental and visionary shift in how land is managed into the future.
Central to the vision for delivering systemic sustainability is the designation of the Cambridgeshire Fens as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
