How to Make a Butterfly Feeding Table
In 2019, London Wildlife Trust, Butterfly Conservation and the Natural History Museum were awarded £1m as winners of the Dream Fund for their project 'Brilliant Butterflies'.
Many butterflies and insects are in serious trouble; the State of the UK’s Butterflies 2015 report evidenced that 76% of species have declined over the last 40 years. Brilliant Butterflies aims to help change this.
Working with local people they will be restoring a nationally rare habitat, chalk grassland, and creating new homes for butterflies and insects across nature reserves, road verges, housing estates, and parks. They will use ground-breaking environmental DNA technology to survey find out more about this wildlife in order to secure its future conservation.
Brilliant Butterflies will create new wildlife havens in the southern fringes of Croydon and Bromley, providing refuges for pollinators and beautiful, tranquil pockets of chalk meadows.
